What is Golden Jacket?
Golden Jacket is a virtual dog racing game that offers the excitement of a full day or evening of top quality dog racing without the need to leave the comfort of your home. Just like at the bookies or the track the form guide gives an accurate representation of how well a dog is likely to do in a race, with the odds calculated accordingly.
Getting started
Golden Jacket offers a realistic dog racing experience, with a full race meeting and on-demand viewing of your races. Read the details of the full race meeting in the 'Track Info' box to the left of the screen. Use the number tabs on the left hand side to read all about the runners for each of the 8 races. You may start the meeting at any race you wish or choose to bet on selected races only. You can choose a new meeting by pressing the 'SKIP ALL RACES' button.
Placing a bet
To place bets on a single race, select the dogs you wish to back in the 'RACE BETS' tab. The bet options for those traps along with the prices will appear in the 'ADD BETS' box to the right. Once you have made your selection(s), choose the bet type(s) under the 'ADD BETS' tab and set your stake. Use the '+' and '-' buttons to select your chosen stake amount for each individual bet. Then press 'Submit', confirm the bets on your 'BET SLIP' are placed correctly and press the 'VIEW RACE' button to view the race.
Placing multiple bets is done in a very similar way. First select the 'MULTIPLE BETS' tab on the left of the screen to view all races and the dogs running in them. As before, selecting dogs will bring up the bet options in the 'ADD BETS' tab to the right. For explanations as to what each bet type involves press the little green arrow to the left of the bet name.
NB! When the game loads odds will be displayed in fractions. If you would like to view the odds in decimals then this can be selected from the 'OPTIONS' drop down menu in the header bar. Forecast odds will always be displayed as decimals, as will the odds on some of the more complex bets.
Watching a race
During the race it is possible to change the camera position to follow any one of the six dogs or to follow the race leader. A box to the left shows which dogs you have backed for that race and in the top right hand corner is a top view giving their positions on the track (NB! This is not available when 'Details' is set to 'Low'). At the end of the race you can view the photo finish for the top three places. You can see the photo finish for all places and races by looking at past races in the 'RACE BETS' tab on the betting screen. If you want to speed up play then press SKIP at any point during a race to jump straight to see the photo finish.
Dog Information
Click on any dog name under the 'RACE BETS' tab to see full information and form to help you make your decision, just like you would at the dog track. All information given is taken into account when calculating the odds that will be offered on a dog, and will also effect the likelihood of that dog winning the race.
Tool Tips and the Help Box
Throughout the game helpful information will appear in the bottom left of the screen. Information will also appear when hovering the mouse pointer over most areas of the game.
The BET and PAID boxes in the header bar will display cumulative bet and return amounts for the entire meeting. When you start a new meeting these will return to zero.
